Buy a Pie & Change a Life

Ever since we launched our first Life Skills Program in Msholozi, South Africa (2019) and saw the impact it was having we knew it had to go on, long after we're gone. So we put our heads together to come up with a sustainability plan. We considered our skillset and the most confronting issue in South Africa (unemployment) and imagined being able to offer skills training and leadership training while at the same time being able to offer provision to interns. But how?

 

A Social Enterprise, we've called Pie Boyz SA, that uses the process of baking "Hand Pies" as a training tool that produces market worthy #scrumptioushandpies. If you want to know the story of why we chose hand pies, read more here. 

 

Having received the thumbs up after testing (free) pies with people in and around our community, we just had a "filling" (pun intended), it was time to take the next step. In October 2021, Pie Boyz brought its first HAND PIE to market. It was a sellout. Pies flew off our display table and into the mouths of satisfied customers. Clearly, people were willing to pay for #scrumptioushandpies. With 8 months of successful markets behind us, repeat customers, and growing brand recognition, we're confident we've got something special happening, something sustainable.

We've outgrown our first training centre (founder's home kitchen). On Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 we moved into an empty concrete space that needs your help transforming it into a warm, welcoming and functional training and baking space. Thankfully we don't need to renovate, but we do need to outfit the space so that we can BAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, well at least this part of the world.
